Leading up to UFC superstar Conor McGregor’s professional debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr., there were more than a few rumors that things were not going so well in sparring for “Notorious.” Now an eye witness has decided to break their silence and reveal that McGregor was knocked out during one of his sparring sessions.
Professional boxer Jesse Vargas initially claimed that fellow pugilist Brandon Rios knocked out McGregor during a sparring session. Now Dewey Cooper, boxing trainer to the likes of Vargas and UFC’s own Nick Diaz, has come forward to support the claim.
Speaking to Dontae’s Boxing Nation, Cooper broke down the situation.
“If Jesse Vargas says it, you can check it off the list. It’s golden,” Cooper said.
As far as McGregor’s boxing skills, Cooper was seemingly not impressed.
“Hopefully, he has gotten better. I doubt he’s gotten much better, but I’m sure he’s gotten better from a year ago.”
Conor McGregor would go on to suffer a TKO loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the tenth round of their match up.
