UFC bantmaweight champion Amanda Nunes was expected to fight Cris Cyborg in a super-fight this summer. Those plans got put on hold when when Cyborg jumped into the UFC 222 main event, to save the show. Now, Nunes has taken a new fight as well, as she is set to face Raquel Pennington in the UFC 224 main event. The once super-fight that seemed nearly a done deal, seems further away from ever as of late. And in a new interview Nunes reveals that she only wanted to fight Cyborg out of a lack of options, and now that she has them, the bout has lost some appeal. In an interview with The UFC unfiltered Podcast, the champ explained, "When I texted Dana White that I wanted the fight, I didn’t have nobody in my division. I didn’t even know if I was gonna fight soon. I was concerned with waiting years because I’ve been in that position before, waiting so long for a fight, I don’t want to do it again and stay waiting, waiting, waiting." “But now, we have Rocky and we have the Brazilian, Ketlen and I feel like my division is starting to grow. If you pay attention, the division’s gonna be awesome and now I have two. I have Rocky and I have Ketlen. Rocky is my next step and I want to see Ketlen after, for sure.” Thoughts?
