UFC 213: Font Opens Up The PPV In Style, Dominates In Route To Finish

On Saturday, the UFC’s annual International Fight Week came to its conclusion with UFC 213.

Despite the main event between UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko being canceled just hours before the event, the UFC still hosted a full night of intriguing matchups.

The UFC 213 pay-per-view event opened with a bantamweight showcase featuring Rob Font and Douglas Silva de Andrade.

Font came out aggressive to start the fight. In the first minute, Font secured a takedown, but Andrade got back up. Font managed to get the fight back down to the mat. Font then went for a standing guillotine but Andrade escaped. On their feet, Font landed a brutal combination but accidentally poked Andrade in the eye. When the fight restarted, both fighters traded kicks. The round ended with Font going for a guillotine but he ran out of time.

Both men landed strong shots early in the middle round. Font seemed to land the more effective shots, but Andrade had success as well. Font had success throughout the round landing knees to the body as well as landing jabs. Font hurt Andrade with a right hand and followed it with a takedown. Font then went for a guillotine and submitted his opponent.
