Boxing’s Jim Lampley Calls Mayweather A “Scam Artist” Who Gave McGregor Rounds

International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Jim Lampley has come forward with some critical remarks towards Floyd Mayweather Jr. concerning his recent match up against Conor McGregor.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. pulled himself out of retirement earlier this year to take on UFC superstar Conor McGregor in one of the year’s most highly anticipated boxing events. The two fighters threw down in August, with Mayweather earning a TKO victory in the tenth round. Following the match, Mayweather slipped back into retirement with a perfect record of 50-0.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Boxing commentator Jim Lampley explained that he believes Mayweather vs. McGregor was a “marvelous scam.”

“Why should he retire? He created a marvelous scam with this whole thing. He allowed Conor to quote ‘win’ three rounds so that the whole global MMA wish community could have something to latch on to. I think there’s a decent chance there’s enough suckers out there Floyd could maybe make another $150 million. Why not? It’s all a set up.”

The commentator continued:

“Are we having a bet on whether or not Floyd Mayweather wants to make another $150 million? It’s not a bet. Why else is he putting out videos of himself working out? Why else did he allow Conor McGregor to ‘win’ three rounds? Why did the whole thing last 10 rounds? It’s all a set up.”
