Phillipe Nover and Rick Glenn kept the action rolling for “UFC 208: Holm vs. De Randamie” with their featherweight bout that kicked off the action on FS1. Glenn ate a devastating head kick in the first two minutes of the fight that made the crowd audibly cringe, but he never wobbled or showed any signs of wear.
Glenn’s pace never altered throughout the entirety of the first round; He took some shots and continued to press forward, Nover would escape the clinch along the cage and ultimately find his way back to the center of the octagon. The remainder of the fight saw the same process repeat itself with neither fighter landing anything decisive, which brought the crowd to a bored “boo”.
There were some glimmers of brilliance shown throughout the fight, however. Nover, pressed up against the fence, showed great heart with his takedown defense. Glenn kept trying to make it happen, but Nover simply would not let it happen. Still, the fight was lackluster and reached a judges decision.
Rick Glenn def. Phillipe Nover by way of Split Decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)
