It’s rare that the UFC proceed with a trilogy fight, especially in their heavyweight division. However, according to Tuesday reports, that’s exactly what’s expected to go down.
Ages ago, Fabricio Werdum and Alistair Overeem fought under the PRIDE banner in Japan. It was a fight that Werdum easily handled and won, via submission.
Years later the two would meet again under the STRIKEFORCE banner. The bout was for the promotion’s heavyweight belt and it was Overeem who made the work look easy on the night.
Now, according to a report from a reliable twitter reporter, the UFC is putting together a third fight between the two top heavyweights.
The report also confirms the date and venue as UFC 213 scheduled for July 8.
