On Saturday, the UFC put on one of their most stacked cards in history at UFC 214 in Anaheim, California.
At UFC 214, the UFC crowned a new women’s featherweight champion. Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino fought Tonya Evinger for the vacant title.
Justino dropped Evinger right as the fight started, but Evinger recovered. Justino then unloaded against the cage. Evinger then pulled guard, but Justino stood the fight up. On their feet, Justino continued to land shots. Evinger went for a takedown, but couldn’t get Justino to the ground. After struggling against the cage, Evinger briefly got “Cyborg” to the mat. Justino then landed a knee to the body. The action halted due to Justino getting poked in the eye. When the fight restarted, Justino landed a strong inside leg kick. In the final minute, “Cyborg” began having success against the cage. Justino landed a head kick that appeared to stun Evinger. In the final seconds, Justino continued to land brutal shots.
Justino opened the second round with leg kicks. Evinger tried to retaliate, by Justino continued to land punches and kicks with ease. At the end of the round, Justino landed punches to Evinger’s jaw. “Cyborg” also had success with kicks and knees. Evinger went for a takedown in the final seconds of round two.
Both fighters traded punches early in the third round, but Justino landed more volume. Justino also landed the harder punches. “Cyborg” then dropped Evinger, but allowed her to stand up. Justino began to land knees against the cage and finished the fight.
