There was a bit of a scare at today’s official weigh-ins for UFC 216. Kevin Lee, one of this weekend’s headliners, did not approach the scale until only moments before the weigh-in deadline. Hitting the scales, Kevin Lee came in a pound overweight. With UFC 216’s main event set to be a title fight, Lee would have to make weight if he wanted a shot at the belt. After being offered additional time to lose the pound, Kevin Lee returned to the scale for a successful weigh-in. Now a video of Kevin Lee reacting to his initial missed weight has made its way onto the internet.
Kevin Lee has been climbing up the lightweight division with a series of impressive performances. Now on a five fight winning streak, Lee is set to compete for the UFC interim lightweight title against Tony Ferguson in the main event of this Saturday’s UFC 216.
Hitting the scales at today’s official weigh-ins, Lee can be seen in the video below showing a moment of frustration as it is revealed that he missed championship weight by a single pound.
UFC 216 will take place Oct. 7 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. The main card will be available on pay-per-view, as the preliminary card will be featured on FS1.
