UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg has been on the prowl for an opponent to face off in her first title defense attempt. Now the champion has received what she wished for.
Cris Cyborg is now set to face off against former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm at UFC 219. The event goes down Dec. 30 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
Holm recently pulled herself out of a three fight losing streak with a knockout victory over Bethe Correia at UFC Fight Night 111. With her next fight officially booked, odds for the match up have been released.
Veteran MMA oddsmaker Joey Oddessa recently sat down with MMA Junkie to reveal his thoughts on the match up. The oddsmaker puts the fight at Cyborg at -400 and Holm at +300. Speaking on the matter, Oddessa said:
“I’m probably in the minority, but I think Holly Holm has a legit shot at beating Cyborg. Most of Cyborg’s opponents dread standing and striking with her, but that’s where Holly is at her best.
“Unlike 18 of Cyborg’s opponents in the past who got crushed on their feet, Holm’s best path to victory may be by keeping the bout standing.”
