It turns out the rumored UFC 219 showdown between reigning welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and UFC star Nate Diaz isn’t a rumor after all. Woodley already went on record saying he was ready to fight Nate. And now he’s also hit TMZ to let people know that the deal is done if Diaz will just sign on the dotted line already.
Diaz hasn’t fought since his close decision loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 202 in August of 2016. It was highly speculated that he was only interested in a trilogy fight against McGregor but a title fight against Woodley seems to be enough to get him back in the octagon.
As of now the fight between Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz isn’t confirmed. However, with both fighters formally announcing that they’re back in training this all seems to be a formality.
Nate has been very quiet and hasn’t offered any sort of response to Woodley or the reports of their proposed fight at UFC 219, though he did just share his next booking.
It looks like Tyron will have to wait until Nate is done with his prior engagement for “Blum” in Socal.
