It would appear as if that highly-anticipated female featherweight title fight between UFC champion Cris Cyborg and former bantamweight champion Holly Holm is no longer going to happen.
After what has been months of negotiations, Ariel Helwani is now reporting this bout is unlikely.
The two female standouts were expected to fight at this year’s year-end show, UFC 219 on December 30th in Las Vegas.
Here’s Ariel’s report:
Cyborg-Holm looking less and less likely right now. Hit major road block. https://t.co/SHfiSLU0vE

This puts Cyborg in an unusual position. As a UFC champion, there is only one official female in her weight-class (Megan Anderson). Holly Holm would have been the one stepping up in competition with her moving up in weight to make the fight a reality.
With no female’s in the division, should the UFC reconsider Cyborg as a viable champion?
