Former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm will have a lot on her plate walking into the octagon for UFC 219. The former title holder will be going toe-to-toe with Cris Cyborg, a fighter largely considered to be one of the most dominant female MMA competitors in the sport today. Of course, Holm has shocked the world with a stunning finish over a dominant UFC superstar before. UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov believes she can do it again.
Holm stunned the MMA community when she put an end to the dominant reign of UFC megastar Ronda Rousey with a knockout finish back in 2015. Now Holm is set to fight for the featherweight title at UFC 219. Speaking on the Real Quick With Mike Swick podcast, Khabib Nurmagomedov offered his prediction for Holm’s incipient title fight.
“I think Cyborg is going to go really aggressive in the first round.” Nurmagomedov said, breaking down his thoughts on how the fight will turn out. “If Holly Holm stays focused, stays relaxed, doesn’t rush and takes her time, I think she can catch her. I think Holly Holm is going to knock her out. This is my opinion, but Cyborg is very tough. Right now, she is the best female fighter in the world. But, I think Holly Holm can knock her out.”
Holly Holm and Cris Cyborg will throw down on Dec. 30 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. The event will be featured live on pay-per-view.
