The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Las Vegas, Nev. on Friday night, Dec. 1, for an entertaining series of fights. The world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion was in town for the finale of the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter. The Ultimate Fighter 26 went down this year with an exciting season of entertainment. With the TUF 26 finale having come to a close, it’s time to check out the UFC fighter payrolls from the MMA promotion’s latest event.
This time around, former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and rising MMA star Justin Gaethje stepped up to coach the season’s competitors. With the UFC having unveiled the new female flyweight division, TUF 26 exclusively hosted female flyweight competitors with the two finalist set to battle for the inaugural flyweight title.
Finalists Nicco Montano and Sijara Eubanks were initially set to face off for the title on Friday night. However, Eubanks was pulled from the event following medical concerns. As a result, fellow TUF 26 competitor Roxanne Modafferi stepped up to face off against Montano for the title.
With a record of 21-13 going into the match up, the Invicta FC veteran had quite a bit of experience over the 3-2 Nicco Montano. That in mind, Montano still managed to lock in a unanimous decision victory over her opponent for the inaugural UFC flyweight title.
With the exciting night of fights now in the books, the time has come to take a look a look at the salary pay outs for The Ultimate Fighter 26 finale.
The night’s headliners took home staggering totals of $100,000 each. Montano and Modafferi’s massive payouts made up a large portion of the total $553,000 in disclosed payouts. Former TUF competitor Tim Elliot recently took to Twitter to share his heated opinion on the headliners’ big paydays.
Over Twitter, Elliot stated “So Roxanne didn’t even win the TUF show, yet she gets 100k to show and 100k to win in a title fight she was gifted. Then even if she loses she drops to 50k and 50k for her next fight. . . Man I got screwed big time (and I actually won the show) it makes sense though, the girl Roxanne is fighting is the pound for pound goat, so I get it!”
