The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday night, Jan. 27, for the promotion’s latest big event. This time around, the world’s most famous mixed martial arts promotion took to the Spectrum Center to host UFC on FOX 27.
The event featured a middleweight war for division dominance in the night’s headliner. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza went toe-to-toe with Derek Brunson in a highly anticipated rematch. Souza knocked out Brunson in the first round of their first match up, with the rematch’s result being much more of the same.
“Jacare” stunned Brunson with a headkick early in the first round, earning Souza a second knockout victory over the fighter. With the exciting night of fights now in the books, the time has come to take a look at the Reebok report for UFC on FOX 27.
As part of the UFC’s uniform deal with Reebok, the sports apparel company compensates UFC competitors for their octagon performances. The compensation is based on the total number of fights each competitor has completed under the UFC, the Zuffa era of the WEC and the Zuffa era of Strikeforce.
Therefore, fighters with more experience in their careers are likely to see more compensation from the Athlete Outfitting Payouts provided by Reebok. That being said, a total 18 fighters from Saturday’s event walked away with $5,000 or less for their octagon performances.
