Former Invicta FC bantamweight champion Yana Kunitskaya made her octagon debut over the weekend. Now the fighter has come forward to reveal that her take home from the match up was much more than initially reported.
For her debut, Yana Kunitskaya faced off against women’s UFC bantamweight champion Cris Cyborg in a main event battle for the belt at UFC 222. Cyborg ultimately earned a first round finish over the fighter, bringing the title challenge to an abrupt end.
It was initially reported that Kunitskaya earned a total $100,000 for her octagon debut. However, the fighter has since taken to social media to reveal that UFC President Dana White arranged for her to be paid “several times more” than her official payment.
Check out a translation of Kunitskaya’s statement below:
“Mad experience I received this weekend ? thank you all for your support. It is not always possible to do what you want, sometimes you have to make compromises. For those who asked why you need it ?? sometimes there is simply no choice. Thanks to Dana White I now do not need to think about money (do not look at the official figures, I was paid several times more $).
“I went out on a short notice not in my weight and spent a crazy media week in order to headline the PPV event in my debut fight in the UFC. Dividing the cage with Cyborg, now it’s definitely can’t get any harder for me -time to return to my weight and make noise here ?? watch the news. Coming soon to battle”
