Felice Herrig Takes Out Courtney Casey In Detroit, And The Two Got Heated | UFC Results

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is kicking off UFC 218 tonight inside the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Fight fans are tuning in the the exciting night of fights for a series of match ups. In the night’s main event, UFC featherweight Max Holloway will be facing off against former title holder Jose Aldo for a entertaining title fight rematch.

Kicking off the night’s FS1 featured prelims, Felice Herrig is going toe-to-toe with Cortney Casey in a fight for the Detroit crowd.

Herrig opened up the first round with furry, landed a quick two punch combination on Casey. Casey didn’t back, choosing to step forward with a right hand of her own.

Still, Herrig began to dictate the pace of the fight as she put her opponent on her back foot. The fighters entered a brief exchange, as Casey countered an attempted leg kick from Herrig.

Herrig then managed to pressure her opponent against the fence, as the fighter engaged in the clinch before tossing Casey to the ground.

From half guard, Herrig staid busy by hitting Casey with a few strikes. But, Casey quickly locked in a submission attempt that allowed the fighter to reverse her position and get to her feet.

Standing once again, the two competitors began feeling out each other’s range with some methodical striking. Casey began to put on the pace, but Herrig retaliated with a strong combination to end the round.

Kicking off the second round, Casey began control the pace. The fighter seemed to always have an answer for Herrig’s strikes, often landing powerful counters of her own to the fighter’s blows. Still, Herrig did not back down and continued to deliver a consitent pace of leg kicks and punch combinations.

The fighters then entered a heated exchange, as each competitor managed to stick their opponent with some tough leg kicks. Herrig momentarily had Casey pressured into the fence, but Casey quickly made her way back to the center of the octagon.

With two minutes left in the second round, the two fighters continued to trade shots from the standing position. Neither Casey nor Herrig appeared gassed from the fight so far.

Herrig then stuck Casey with a mean left hand counter after her opponent landed a leg kick. Casey tried to fake a body strike, but Herrig picked up on the motion and managed to lessen Casey’s incoming strikes.

The final round started off at a slower pace. Herrig and Casey appeared to have earned each other’s respect with their striking. Herrig began letting off some power shots, as Casey was standing directly in front of the fighter.

Still, Casey weathered Herrig’s bombs and continued to set the pace. The fighters continued to occupy much of the same space inside the octagon, as the two traded shots with seemingly no interest in taking things to the canvas.

With one minute left in the round, Herrig managed to pressure Casey back against the fence. But, the fighter slipped away from her opponent ane made her way back to the center of the octagon.

Casey managed to get a takedown just before the end of the round.
