Rising MMA star Francis Ngannou put on the performance of his career at Saturday’s, Dec. 2, UFC 218. With that in mind, fight fans are now considering what other heavyweight warriors Ngannou could take out. For instance, how would Ngannou fair against former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar?
UFC 218 took place inside the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday night. The main event featured a featherweight war for the title. Reigning champion Max Holloway went toe-to-toe with former champion and former opponent Jose Aldo in a highly anticipated title fight rematch. The two fighters put on a battle for the Detroit crowd, with Holloway earning a TKO victory over “Scarface” in the end. That being said, the night’s co-main event featured a war of its own.
In the night’s co-headliner, heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Francis Ngannou faced off for division dominance. Overeem was on a two fight winning streak going into the match up, having made his way to the No. 1 contender position with victories over the likes of former champion Fabricio Werdum and Mark Hunt.
Francis Ngannou has yet to suffer a loss under the UFC banner. With five octagon performances on his record, the fighter was on a nine fight winning streak going into UFC 218. Ngannou savagely put an end to Overeem in the night’s co-main event with a vicious knockout in the first round. UFC President Dana White has since revealed that Ngannou has officially earned a shot at the heavyweight title. That being said, there fighters other than the reigning champion that fight fans would still be interested in seeing the knockout artist face off against.
For instance, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar put on a storied career during his short run in mixed martial arts. With victories over the likes of Randy Couture, Shane Carwin and Frank Mir, Lesnar has taken on some seriously tough opponents during his tenure with the UFC. The fighter has since returned to his position as a WWE superstar, but the question remains. Who would win between Brock Lesnar and Francis Ngannou?
