Let’s face it, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world champion Gabi Garcia is one of the most intimidating ladies in mixed martial arts. Her sheer size and power are enough to get most MMA females to avoid her, but her grappling ability makes it even scarier.
Garcia has also been training with UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg as she prepares to face Holly Holm at UFC 219. She routinely posts videos and pictures of her tough training sessions with Ruben “Cobrinha” Charles and boxing with Jason Parillo over at the RVCA gym in Orange county.
However, her upcoming opponent in the final round of the Rizin World Grand Prix 2017, Shinobu Kandori, isn’t intimated at all. Kandori is a 53 year old Japanese pro wrestler who is 4-1 in her pro MMA career, but she hasn’t fought since November of 2000. She also won a medal at the Judo World Championships, although that was all the way back in 1984.
In just a few days she’ll step back into the ring with the monstrous Gabi Garcia and attempt to defy the odds as a woman in her 50’s. Check out Shinobu Kandori getting ready for her big showdown with Garcia.
pic.twitter.com/wAwBGfspwG
