Rose Namajunas shocked Madison Square Garden when she faced off against UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 217. Jedrzejczyk was undefeated in her mixed martial arts career going into the match up, with 14 victories under her name. The fighter was quickly going down as one of the UFC’s most dominant fighters, as Namajunas earned a swift first round stoppage over the fighter in front of the New York crowd.
Grant it, the newly crowned UFC strawweight champion has a history of putting on exciting fights. Back in 2013, Namajunas went toe-to-toe with Jedrzejczyk at Invicta FC 5. With a flying armbar, the fighter earned the first round one finish of her career.
Leading up to the fight, Namajunas went all out in a video promoting Invicta FC 5. As seen in the clip above, Namajunas can be seen covered in blood with fake worms in her mouth. Invicta FC 5 can be seen painted in red on the snow floor.
