The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is in Fresno, Calif. tonight, Dec. 9, for another big night of fights. Now the mixed martial arts promotion is kicking off UFC Fight Night 123 inside the Save Mart Center for fight fans. The night’s main event is set to feature an exciting featherweight war between Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega. That in mind the MMA promotion has an entire night of fights set for avid fight fans. Here is a look at the UFC results.
Frankie Saenz and Merab Dvalishvili kicked things off on the night’s preliminary card on FS1. In the first round, Saenz managed to brutalize his opponent’s midsection with some tough knees. Dvalishvili retaliated with a takedown attempt, but was stuffed by his opponent.
Dvalishvili pressured his opponent into the fence in another takedown attempt halfway through the first round. This time, the fighter managed to get his opponent to the canvas. That being said, Saenz quickly made his way back to his feet.
In the final minute of the first round Dvalishvili scored another takedown over his opponent, making for a great end of the round for the fighter.
In the opening moments of the second round, Dvalishvili managed to score yet another takedown on his opponent. However, Saenz made it back to his feet. Dvalishvili continued to turn the fight into a grappling match, but was failing to string up any significant ground and pound on his opponent.
In the final minute of the round, the referee stood the two fighters up as Saenz suffered a UFC wardrobe malfunction that forced the fighter to have to readjust his shorts before the fight could continue.
The final round kicked off with Dvalishvili pressuring Saenz against the fence. But, Saenz was able to escape the position and return to the center of the octagon. Still, Dvalishvili was able to secure another takedown on the fighter before the two MMA warriors found themselves back in the center of the octagon.
In the final minute of the fight, Saenz managed to stuff Dvalishvili’s takedown and hit Dvalishvili with a brutal uppercut.
